Summer Time in Bloom 🌼

Summer is by far my favorite time of year. The gorgeous array of flora and fauna, the dreamy sunny meadows and the beautiful rolling green hills that surround the photo studio are the perfect backdrop for a summer outdoor photo shoot. When lovely mum-to-be Iona got in touch and asked me to do a maternity shoot for her, my heart lifted! Knowing the endless shoot locations the Scottish Borders has to offer at this time of year, I couldn't wait to get snapping.

It is always good to get Dad and the big brother involved the shoot too. The pride on their faces is plain to see and was a delight to capture.

I cant wait to meet their little arrival (very soon) as I'm lucky enough to be doing a newborn shoot for the family when they make their grand entrance into the world.

Sharing the Love

What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with a wee sneaky peak from a gorgeous sibling shoot at the weekend! Photographing siblings together - especially in those early moments - is one of my favourite things to do.  It reminds me of when my own children were meeting each other for the very first time.  The pride that the older sibling feels and the love and bond that grows between them - it is just beautiful.

The last time I saw little Theo he was just a tiny newborn! Here he is at the fun age of eight months! Full of cheeky smiles and laughter! It was so nice to catch up with him again! The next time I see him, he will be approaching his first birthday!

Gorgeous little Theo came to visit me this weekend! A serenely beautiful little angel who slept through the entire shoot.  He pulled off some amazing poses - and totally rocked it!  What a little superstar!  Massive congratulations to his mum and dad once again!

Baby Georgia came to visit me aged just six weeks! She was completely alert throughout the whole shoot - keeping me on my toes! What a gorgeous bundle of fun she was to photograph.  I can't wait to catch up with her for her first birthday shoot!

A Fleeting Moment..

Newborn shoots are among my favourite to do. It's a real privilege to share in that moment when everything is brand new.  The overwhelming feelings and emotions between parent, baby and sibling.  It brings it all flooding back to when my babies were brand new too.  So I know how important it is to capture it.

I love to take my time and set up shots, making sure everything perfect so that mum and dad have some beautiful images to look back upon for years to come.  Memories to cherish. Sometimes, though, it is that split second moment that you have to capture before it is gone forever.  Like the unmistakable connection between sisters that presents itself.  That's where the skill of a photographer comes into its own.  This wonderful little shoot had many moments - but two in particular I think, really sum up the love for a newborn baby and the pride of an older sibling.

Getting Back into the Swing of Things....

I certainly can't complain about going back to work! My maternity leave has finished, and what better way to return than having two brand new babies visit the studio!

Each one completely and utterly adorable!! I do LOVE my job!!

A warm welcome to the studio for little baby Hugo and his mum & dad.  Hugo was almost 4 weeks of age when he came to visit me - such a gorgeous, alert little fella! We got some wonderful, classic black and white images of him. Such precious memories! :)
