So you have finally  got the camera of your dreams - Maybe you've just upgraded from your trusty pocket point and shoot or you've been bought a new all singing all dancing DSLR for your Birthday or Christmas (hint, hint!) Or maybe that expensive camera you bought is sat on a shelf gathering dust, and those intentions you had to get to grips with it one day, well, never really happened – until now.

Why come on the course?

With a capable camera there are a whole load of new buttons to wrap your head around and sometimes it can be a little daunting! That's where Jayne and Cat come in. With almost half a centuries worth of experience as professional photographers between them, there isn't much they can't explain. Let them guide you around your camera and lift the veil on all those buttons.  Whether you are a budding portrait photographer, a landscape dreamer or a candid slueth, this course will help you get the best out of using your camera and make the most of the technology at your finger tip – in manual.


What you will need?

This course is perfect for anyone using a DSLR, CSC, Mirrorless, Advanced Compact, Bridge or any Camera with manual controls. The course is informative, informal and most importantly fun! Come along with a positive attitude and you will certainly leave with a better understanding of your camera and taking better photos.

When and Where?

The course will be held on Saturday 4th April 2020, 10 - 4 in the stunning walled garden of Cringletie House

The day will be split between classroom instruction in the walled garden greenhouse and hands on camera action in the garden itself after lunch.

The course is open to all – you don't have to be an amateur photographer wizard! 


The course will cost £125 for a full days tuition, lunch and refreshments at the beautiful Cringletie House as well as takeaway course material and ongoing support.

About Jayne and Cat

Jayne got her first camera for her 14th birthday and is now in her 25th year as a professional, working at some of the country’s biggest newspapers being both nationally and internationally published she has experience in every genre of photography. She now runs Vanilla Moon Photography and specialises in wedding, family and portrait photography. Qualified with the Photography Guild and named Scotland’s best newborn photographer of 2018 by Lux Life magazine she has lots of knowledge to impart.

Always a skilled amateur Cat trained as a wedding photographer alongside the countries best and went ‘pro’ after leaving the Armed Forces 7 years ago and hasn’t looked back. She now concentrates on her pet portraiture with Fetch and Flash for which she has won multiple awards including being placed in the 2019 Kennel Club Dog Photographer of the year competition, an internationally renowned competition. Qualified with the Master Photographers Association and widely published her skills are assured.

Both Jayne and Cat have experience in every genre of photography, understanding how to use light, both natural and studio to create stunning images which are the basis of both their successful photography businesses. Importantly they are also both friendly, personable and understanding making them ideal to work together to help aspiring photographers achieve their own goals, whether that’s entering international competitions or simply taking better photos for personal enjoyment, they are here to help!

Cringletie House

Set in the stunning Scottish Borders just outside Peebles, within easy reach of Edinburgh and Lothian Cringletie’s walled garden will provide the perfect setting for the day. The ‘classroom’ will be the greenhouse set within the garden. It’s beautiful light and atmosphere will make the learning all the more fun. With Lunch provided by the hotel and the gardens to step out into after lunch for the practical element of the course we can’t think of a better setting to improve your photography.
